Finance Assistant

Salary: £30,000 - £35,000 (depending on experience)
The Finance Assistant will provide essential support to the Finance Department by managing financial records, processing transactions, and assisting with month-end and year-end tasks.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
The nature of the role is such that there will be a requirement to work across the functional boundaries with the Finance Department, but the following gives a flavour of the types of duties the successful candidate would be expected to undertake:
Accounts:
- Support the preparation of monthly management accounts including posting journal, accruals, prepayments, and overhead analysis.
- Assist with balance sheet reconciliation.
- Assist with stock & GRNI reconciliation.
- Support the preparation of VAT returns and other statutory filings.
- Maintenance of the fixed asset register.
- To ensure that all bookkeeping, documentation, records and systems are accurate and kept up to date.
- Purchase Ledger maintenance and management
- Perform daily and monthly bank reconciliation to ensure all transactions are accurately recorded and discrepancies are resolved.
- Using accounting software to maintain accurate financial records.
- Using Excel to manipulate and analyse data, including lookups and pivot tables.
- Liaising with internal departments to resolve queries in a timely manner.
- Ensuring data accuracy and confidentiality in line with GDPR.
- To contribute to the development of policies and procedures.
- Proactively support the implementation of new processes and help improve those in place.
- To assist with the preparation of ad-hoc projects and reporting.
Compliance:
- Assist with year-end audit preparation, including supporting schedules and information requests.
- Ensuring compliance with financial regulations and internal controls.
- Covering for other members of the Finance Department during absences.
- Assisting other members of the Finance Department as required.

KEY MEASUREMENTS
- Timely and accurate completion of month-end tasks.
- Accuracy of financial data and error-free reconciliations.
- Reliable support to the Finance Department.
SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS
- ACCA, ACA or CIMA qualified; however, part qualified, a finance graduate or an AAT level 4 qualification will also be considered.
- Previous experience in an Accounting or Finance role.
- Strong understanding of basic accounting principles and practices.
- Strong IT skills, particularly in Microsoft Excel (including PivotTables and VLOOKUPs), Word, SharePoint and PowerPoint.
- High level of accuracy and attention to detail when processing financial transactions and preparing reports.
