Microsoft is retiring Basic Authentication in favour of more secure email protocols. While this improves security, it may affect how printers and multi-function devices send scanned documents via email.

- Microsoft will begin enforcing changes from 1st March 2026, with full removal by April 30th, 2026
- Basic Authentication will no longer be supported
- Devices must support Modern Authentication (OAuth 2.0) to continue scan-to-email
