Microsoft Security Changes Are Coming

Is Your Scan-to-Email Ready?

Microsoft is retiring Basic Authentication in favour of more secure email protocols. While this improves security, it may affect how printers and multi-function devices send scanned documents via email.

WHAT YOU NEED TO KNOW

  • Microsoft will begin enforcing changes from 1st March 2026, with full removal by April 30th, 2026
  • Basic Authentication will no longer be supported
  • Devices must support Modern Authentication (OAuth 2.0) to continue scan-to-email
