Canon has confirmed a valuable partnership with cyber-security experts McAfee, further emphasizing Canon’s ongoing commitment to improve the offering to partners and customers.
Thanks to the partnership, Canon will include the McAfee Embedded Control Software on all imageRUNNER ADVANCE Generation 3, III edition devices as standard. This feature represents a key update in the new 3.9 firmware.
What does this mean?
With version 3.8, Canon had already introduced the capability to prevent any unauthorised firmware version to be installed on the MFP at device start up. Now with version 3.9 and the partnership with McAfee, Canon has added another layer of protection, preventing unauthorised programme execution and changes to printer firmware and applications during runtime.
In the words of Takanobu (Taz) Nakamasu, executive VP of Document Solutions at Canon Europe: “With both your customers and prospects becoming increasingly concerned about the security of their office devices, we’ve partnered with the leaders in cyber-security, McAfee, to turn a possible point of frustration into a strong opportunity. We’ve combined our secure by design hardware and software with McAfee’s Embedded Control Software to give customers the best security and latest innovation in one straightforward package.”
