We tell our Managed Print Service customers that there are plenty of ways in which you can reduce your carbon emissions, but we also accept it’s not realistic to eliminate them entirely. That’s why we share with our customers the secret to closing the gap between their unavoidable carbon output and carbon neutral.
We’ve won awards for our commitment to sustainability and we want to continue our commitment.
Last year ASL Managed Print Services carried out 30% of their repairs remotely. That’s 30% of potential callouts not involving a car or van, fuel, for one or more visits. If this isn’t enough, we also enable our staff to work from home wherever possible, so they don’t have to use fuel to get to work either.
At ASL Group, we also recycled 100% of our customer toner cartridges. These measures are on top of our energy-saving lightbulb use and how we introduce the latest in scan and photocopying devices to give our customers a wide range of energy-saving options. You can read more about these here. However, we’re only human, and we can’t magic away carbon emissions for everyone. At the moment, there’s always a gap. We recognise this and have decided to do the next best thing. Offsetting.
By teaming up with PrintReleaf, we can help our customers to offset, too, but for real environmental sustainability credits in a controlled and monitored environment.
With PrintReleaf, reforestation, replanting and forest management programs are clearly defined and contributed to with each printout produced by ASL’s Managed Print Service customers.
PrintReleaf supports a wide number of reforestation projects around the world including in North America and South America, Asia, Africa and Europe that operate to strict industry standards, lending authenticity and reliability to these projects. They arrange checks on forestry organisations to ensure they have the rights to land, and planting rights, expertise in forestry best practices, a successful track record in reforestation, transparent reporting and financial health and stability.
PrintReleaf also inspects individual forest management projects to ensure there is appropriate on-site project management, attention to quantitative tree planting requirements, species allocation and corresponding survival rates and the ability to meet tree planting timeframes of PrintReleaf project transactions.
These checks and balances make it possible to provide certified accreditation of carbon offsetting. By offering our Managed Print Service customers this opportunity, we don’t simply support the environment, we help our customers by offering them a way to differentiate themselves from their competitors, attract a more diverse customer base and showcase their commitment to environmental sustainability.
Working with PrintReleaf, we’ve already planted 67,594 trees in reforestation projects around the world, and this year, we intend to do more, helping our managed print service customers to offset their unavoidable carbon emissions.
